Inflation Rate and Consumer Price Index Update October and September 2009

The annual headline inflation rate at the national level picked up to 1.6 percent in October from 0.7 percent in September brought about by the higher annual price increment in the heavily weighted food, beverages and tobacco (FBT) index. Inflation a year ago was 11.2 percent.

Excluding selected food and energy items, core inflation continued to register a slower rate at 2.7 percent in October from 2.8 percent in September. Read more of October and September 2009 inflation rate here.
